
GirlsUp World: Global Girls Journey
GirlsUp World is an inclusive program for young women aged 15-21, offering a supportive community to build confidence, develop life skills, and connect with peers and mentors. Through virtual and in-person sessions, participants engage in empowering activities like mindfulness, career exploration, and cultural exchanges, all designed to inspire self-discovery and leadership.

Mentorship & Role Models: Connect with peers and mentors who share similar experiences and aspirations.
Skill-Building Activities: Engage in fun, interactive sessions that teach valuable life skills, from self-care to leadership development.
How GirlsUp World Works:
GirlsUp World runs from October to June, with weekly sessions alternating between virtual and in-person meetups:
Virtual Sessions (Thursdays, 6-8 pm): A safe online space to share experiences, discuss challenges, and learn coping strategies.
In-Person Sessions (Saturdays, 12:30-3 pm): Hands-on activities that foster teamwork, confidence, and community building at the Newcomer Centre Central and other locations.
This program is participant-led, meaning you get to decide which topics matter most to you! Previous sessions have included:
Nature walks and mindfulness activities
Art, music, and movement for self-expression
Career exploration and skill-building workshops
Cooking socials and cultural exchanges
Discussions on identity, confidence, and embracing your uniqueness
Who Can Join:
Young women aged 15-21, especially those from immigrant and refugee backgrounds.
Participants should have basic spoken English skills.
