About us

We help Edmonton families, newcomers, students and seniors learn, connect and get through hard times.

Mosaic Education Centre is a non-profit society based in Edmonton and run entirely by volunteers. We work alongside schools, agencies and community groups, and everything we offer is open to everyone.

How we work

Open to everyone

Our programs are open to anyone who needs them, whatever their background, language or faith.

Learning at the centre

Most of what we do is about learning: reading, language, life in a new country, rights and responsibilities.

Run by volunteers

Volunteers plan and deliver every program. Directors serve without pay.

Accountable to members

Members elect the board at the annual general meeting and receive the society’s financial statements each year.

Our story

  1. 2005

Incorporated in Edmonton under the Alberta Societies Act as an education centre.

  2. 2009

Society revived and returned to active status.

  3. 2024

A new board of directors takes office and begins rebuilding the society.

  4. 2026

Members elect a new board, renew the society’s purposes and relaunch its programs.

How we are funded

Membership fees, individual gifts and grants pay for what volunteer time cannot: food, books, learning materials, venues, insurance and bookkeeping. The board reports on income and spending to members every year.

We are not a registered charity and cannot issue tax receipts. We are preparing to apply for charitable registration with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Work with us

Schools, shelters, settlement agencies, libraries and community groups: if our programs could help the people you serve, we would like to hear from you.
